2019 Chockstone Riesling

2019 Chockstone Riesling

Our Flagship white wine, we spend the month of March focussing on little else except the developing flavours in the Chockstone Riesling blocks.  Harvesting at the perfect flavour and acid profile ensures the delicate yet complex character that is synonymous with Chockstone Riesling.

Once harvested, the grapes were pressed as gently as possible, and the juice allowed to work its way through a nice cool fermentation with as little intervention as possible. The fermentation came to rest with just a touch of residual sweetness to balance the vibrant acid profile, creating a focussed palate and elegant mineral finish.

Wildflowers, citrus blossom, guava, kiwi fruit, pear and a distinct minerality. Natural acidity balanced with a hint of sweetness.

Enjoy with raw oysters or freshly caught seafood. A pert and refreshing beauty now, its refined structure and delicate characters will develop wonderfully for at least another ten years.

95pts- I'm guilty of not including the Grampians as a high quality regional producer of riesling in Australia-wide comparisons. The perfumed bouquet of lime and apple blossom leads into a long, mouthwatering burst of lime/lemon, crisp acidity the icing on the cake.

95 points - Light yellow hue with a dried herb, creamy yeast and dried wildflower bouquet. It's a lovely nose. The palate is likewise attractive, not bone-dry but slightly juicy, with crisp acidity drying the after-palate, the follow-through satisfyingly fruity and harmonious. A gorgeous riesling. Ranked #1 of 21 Victorian 2018 Rieslings

95 points & 5 stars This is a delicious young riesling which is dry and yet inviting - without austerity. Dried herb, creamy yeast and dried wildflower aromas lead into a finely textured palate with crisp acidity and a long follow-through. The wine is in excellent harmony throughout.

96 Points - Bone dry, yet intensely fruity. It's not an easy matter to achieve, and the Grampians can lay claim to be the most successful region in Victoria for riesling other than Henty. Acidity is one of the keys, climate the driver.
